A Joyful Life is a Generous One
Written by Samantha Hackl
“As for rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides use with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.” -1 Timothy 6:17-19
Things of this world are fleeting: beauty, money, possessions, even lives. The only One who is never changing, who is the same yesterday, today and forever is God. That is why we are to set our hope on the Lord, who richly provides us with all we need. But all He provides us with shouldn’t stop with us. We are called to step out and radically love others, “to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.”
All we are and all we have is not our own. It comes from Jesus Christ. Our time with the Lord should overflow into loving others more and greater. It’s a process. A little more like Jesus today and less about me today. We should be striving to not only know the Lord deeper, but to give and love more like He calls us to.
We are called to love like Jesus loves us. After all - He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Lets pour out love to others. A love like Jesus. A love that gives the whole self graciously.
Live life in total submission, pouring out to others what the Lord has given and entrusted you . This is the key to a full, abundant life! An abundant, joyful life is a life poured out. I remember once reading somewhere, “JOY = Jesus first, Others second, and You last.”
J.O.Y. Jesus, others, yourself. Take the challenge and begin loving others like Jesus loves you!
